Studio Fashion Portrait Shoot: Maya Tucker & Emmaline Zien | SF Photographer

A week ago, I had the opportunity to work with models, Maya Tucker and Emmaline Zien, at my studio in the Mission district. They're both represented by Stars Management. Aside from their modeling careers, Maya is a freelance filmmaker and Emmaline is an actress.Photographer

I had the help of my producer, Lisa Vortman to help coordinate this shoot. We also had the help of Kris Jung for hair and makeup and Dominique Guillen (@belladoma) for styling. This shoot would have not been the same without the wonderful people to help coordinate and prep the models. Thank you everyone for making this day a success!

I can’t wait to add these images to my portfolio.

A great studio portrait session depends on the quality of the people in the room — on both sides of the camera. This session with models Maya Tucker and Emmaline Zien was a reminder of how much that matters.

Working With Maya Tucker and Emmaline Zien

Maya Tucker, represented by Stars Management, is a freelance filmmaker in addition to her modeling work — which gives her an understanding of what the camera is doing and how to work with it rather than against it. Emmaline Zien, also with Stars, is an actress with a performer's instinct for presence and timing. The combination of those two energies made the session dynamic in a way that's difficult to plan for.

Shooting at the Mission District Studio

The session took place at my studio in San Francisco's Mission District. Studio shooting places every creative decision squarely with the team — there's no ambient light to lean on, no location texture to fill the frame. Light ratios, background tones, wardrobe choices all have to work together deliberately. When they do, the images have a clarity and intentionality that location shooting can't always achieve.

The Production Team Behind the Images

Producer Lisa Vortman coordinated the shoot. Kris Jung handled hair and makeup with the precision that separates a polished production from a casual one. Dominique Guillen brought a strong eye to styling. Photo assistant Marine Terlizzi kept the session moving between setups. A production at this level succeeds when every person on set knows their role and cares about the result.

Studio Fashion and Lifestyle Photography in San Francisco

This kind of studio work — full crew, models with real range, a clear creative vision — is central to my commercial practice. If you're developing a fashion campaign, lifestyle brand content, or editorial images and need a San Francisco studio photographer, I'd be glad to hear about the project.
