Dr. Angelo Capozzi pitched for Notre Dame as a left-handed pitcher in the class of 1956 — and went on to become a physician. He was selected for inclusion in Strong of Heart: Profiles of Notre Dame Athletics, a book commissioned by the University of Notre Dame to document the lives of athletes who had gone on to distinguish themselves after leaving the field.
The portrait was made at Dr. Capozzi's home in Tiburon, in Marin County — a waterfront town north of San Francisco with views across San Francisco Bay toward the city skyline. As a portrait photographer working in the Bay Area and throughout Marin County, Marc Olivier Le Blanc was commissioned to travel to the location and produce a portrait appropriate for a prestigious university publication.

The session was shot at his home in Tiburon using natural light, producing a portrait that is warm, specific, and appropriately serious for a book about a lifetime of achievement.
