Portrait Series: Luke — Biker, Hunter, Mechanic in San Francisco's Mission

. San Francisco's Most Interesting Man

Lifestyle portrait of Luke in his San Francisco Mission District garage — editorial character portrait by Marc Olivier Le Blanc

Meet Luke: biker, hunter, mechanic, photo stylist, costume designer, and bartender at Bocadillos in downtown San Francisco. I've known Luke and his partner Anne through the photo world — we met on set a few years back. He's the kind of person who makes any project better just by being in the room.

His range is impressive. Give him a garage and he'll rebuild an engine. Send him into the woods and he'll emerge with dinner and a story. Unleash him on a film set and he'll make the wardrobe look effortless.

. Portraits photo shoot in the Mission District

Lifestyle photographer San Francisco Mission

Two of the portraits were shot in Luke's garage in the Mission — a space that could double as a prop house, full of vintage motorcycles, tools, and the particular aesthetic of someone who actually uses their hands.

The Mission has always been one of my favorite neighborhoods to shoot in. It's textured, layered, and gives portraits a sense of place that you don't get in a studio.

This shoot is part of an ongoing character portrait series I've been building — real people with real stories, photographed in environments that reflect who they are. If you're a brand, magazine, or individual looking for a lifestyle or editorial portrait photographer in San Francisco, this is the kind of work I love to make.
