San Francisco Symphony Revisited

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to take portraits of Brent Assink, the executive director of the San Francisco Symphony. He brings in over 32 years of experience in orchestra management to his role at the symphony.

Music has always been a part of Assink’s life. With the help of his mother, he learned the piano at an early age. He continued to play throughout his adolescence. Once it was time to go to college, Assink decided to major in business rather than music. In an article with SF Gate, he stated:

"I knew I didn't want to teach and that I didn't love practicing enough to make a career of it. So I went to college as a business major on a piano scholarship."

His background in business and love for music made him the perfect fit for the San Francisco Symphony.

As you can imagine, Assink is a busy man. I only had a few minutes with him, but I got the shots that I needed. I'm excited to add these portraits to my website.

Big thanks to Francois Boulaire for assisting me on the shoot!
