Debra and Mark Graham - Two Remarkable People
Debra is an accordion and harpsichord player, and a professor of women's and gender studies at Carleton University in Ottawa. Mark is a fly fishing maestro - in his workshop he makes his own fishing poles and flies by hand. He is also a Vice President of research and collections at the Canadian Museum of Nature.
This portrait session was shot in Québec. Behind the Scenes - A Light Built from a Foil Umbrella
One extra fun part of that shoot was that Marc had to build a light with an umbrella, foil and a CFL bulb. The BTS image from this session makes the argument that the finished portrait doesn't need to: that the quality of a portrait is the product of intentional decisions, not happy accidents. When the kit isn't available, you make the kit.
