Silicon Valley Portrait Photographer — Portrait of a Jeweler

Meet San Francisco Jeweler Frank Ancona

I truly enjoyed my time spent with Frank Ancona. The portrait style we created together was simple, yet elegant — which feels entirely representative of Frank and his work as a jeweler. If you're not familiar with him, he's worth knowing: a creative entrepreneur with a beautiful studio and salon showroom on Maiden Lane in San Francisco.

This session was shot in the studio against a dark background with controlled light — clean, direct, and unhurried. The result is the kind of portrait that lets the subject carry the image. Frank brings exactly that kind of presence. You can see more of this style in my portrait work.

I'm already looking forward to photographing Frank again — next time in his Maiden Lane studio, which I expect will produce something quite different and equally interesting. The space deserves its own session.

Portraits of Creative Entrepreneurs in San Francisco

Photographing Frank has genuinely inspired me to pursue more portraits of successful businesspeople and creative entrepreneurs in San Francisco. There's something particular about photographing someone who has built something — a business, a craft, a reputation — that gives a portrait real weight. The subject has something to show for themselves, and that comes through in the image even when the setup is as minimal as this one.

As a portrait photographer in San Francisco, Marc Olivier Le Blanc is drawn to exactly these subjects: people whose work has depth and whose face tells a story. The studio portrait is one of the purest ways to get at that — no environment to lean on, no props to hide behind, just light and presence and time.

The best portraits of this kind come from a genuine connection between photographer and subject. Frank was easy to work with, open to direction, and clearly comfortable in his own skin. Those sessions produce the best images. The ones where the subject is performing never quite land the same way.

San Francisco Portrait Photographer — Business, Editorial, and Personal

Portraits of business owners, creative entrepreneurs, and professionals are some of Marc's most rewarding commissions — and some of the most useful images a person can have. A portrait that reflects who you actually are, rather than a rushed headshot against a conference room wall, is an asset that works across a website, a press kit, a magazine profile, and social media simultaneously.

Marc Olivier Le Blanc is a portrait photographer based in San Francisco, available for studio portraits, editorial commissions, executive headshots, and on-location portrait sessions throughout the Bay Area. Stay tuned for more portraits of San Francisco's creative and business community — there are more coming. For portrait photography in San Francisco, contact Marc through the website.
